100Architects Design Vibrant Red Planet Playground in Shanghai
Located in one of Shanghai’s biggest shopping malls, 100Architect’s unconventional playground is a free-spirited play area for both kids and adults. Known as “Red Planet”, this unorthodox playground promotes interactions and provides a better shopping experience for customers with a fun twist.

The striking red installation acts as an interruption to the public space, creating a point of interest for people walking by and definitely grabbing children’s attention. Following a monochromatic white and red color scheme, the Red Planet playground uses interesting topographic bubble-like forms where children climb, slide and have fun, in addition to a basketball field with a bubbly floor design, chalkboard pyramids, and a meandering racing track which frames the playground. Benches surround the installation so that parents can safely watch their kids let out their energy and creativity, they can also join in some of the random games played within this family-friendly installation.
Red Planet does not only aim to provide a fun and lively recreational activity for the children but also enhance their imagination.
