Surrounded by captivating fjords and the Norwegian Sea, the site of the new Norway landmark represents a heaven for nature lovers. By defining a clear concrete edge, the project aims to mimic the existing nature and topographic landscapes of the city. The existing site had a historic value which gave it identity, the site was a war memorial for a submarine called “Uredd” which translates to fearless. Designed as a Norway landmark to attract tourists, the project includes public services such as toilets, a viewing deck, outdoor seatings and an amphitheater leading to the beach.

“The Uredd monument is re-established on the terrace and rebuilt with new marble plinth. The amphitheater is built of prefabricated steps mounted on a cast-concrete slab. The view from the steps is unique.” explains Haugen/Zohar Arkitekter.
