Architects Declare: It’s Time to Regroup
Canada Architects Declare has announced its next National Gathering on Friday, June 25th. The online event seeks to empower change in the building sector, in moving towards a socially and environmentally sustainable future.
?As we emerge from the hardest stages of the pandemic, it?s time to regroup?to focus on the work to be done and to pool the knowledge and resources we need to do it… as we can only do this together,? says the organization.
The organization is committed to raising awareness of the interconnected climate and and social equity crises, and taking immediate action through the projects of its signatories, and their work as advisors, advocates, and educators.
The meeting will include discussions of how the Architects Declare commitment can be updated to better reflect the rights and knowledge of Indigenous peoples as integral to addressing planetary health, and to acknowledge the harmful legacies of colonization. It will include break-out working groups on topics including eco-social justice, regenerative development, planetary health, and advocacy/policy development.
?Building to support the intergenerational health of our communities and living systems will require rapid paradigm shifts in thought and action for everyone working in the design, construction and procurement of our built environments,? says the organization?s website.
