Architect@Work London 2020 to focus on the environment
Dezeen promotion: this year's Architect@Work event will focus on how design and architecture intersect with nature, and will feature discussions with practices including Waugh Thistleton, Zaha Hadid Architects and Invisible Studio.
Architect@Work London 2020 will take place on 29 and 30 January at the Old Truman Brewery in central London.
Throughout the free, two-day trade event there will be a programme of talks focused on the theme of Sensory Design | Acting Natural: new ways in which architecture and the environment converge.
The talks programme will be kicked off on Wednesday with a talk on the future of timber. Each of the architects, including Ana Lourenco, project architect at Stirling prize-shortlisted studio Waugh Thistleton, will present their "radical projects" during the panel discussion. She will be joined on the panel by Victor Orive, senior associate at Zaha Hadid Architects, Oliver Salway, director of architecture studio Softroom and Mark Broom, an associate at ACME.
This talk will be followed by a panel entitled Tightening the green belt, where the future of the protected area around London will be discussed.
The day will conclude with a seminar on placing plants and greenery inside buildings entitled Inside out.
Thursday's talks programme begins with City vs Countryside, a panel discussion led by journalist David Michon on the benefits and pitfalls of living in more urban and rural environments.
