Baia table by Zanellato/Bortotto for De Castelli
Dezeen Showroom: Italian brand De Castelli has launched a coffee table designed by design duo Zanellato/Bortotto, which was informed by the way water moves through a lagoon.
Named Baia, the table has a base of two wide copper columns topped by a curving green and blue surface.
The Baia table was inspired by the Venetian Lagoon
"The large table is characterised by an organic shape, inspired by the landscapes of the Venetian Lagoon," said De Castelli.
"The infinite variations given by the waves and the currents come to life in the evocative declinations of the DeNuance lagoon finishing, with its many shades of light blue and green."
Its surface finish is created by combining pigments through fire and oxidation
Baia's tabletop was finished using De Castelli's DeNuance technique, which combines different pigments through fire and oxidation. "The result is a sculptural table, an iconic object that becomes the protagonist of the environment," the brand explained. "Baia is almost a piece of art ? the power and beauty of nature."
