BAM! sofa by Massproductions
Dezeen Showroom: Massproductions has released a pop art-informed sofa called BAM! and recruited Swedish DJ and music producer Axel Boman to write a song about it.
BAM! was designed by Chris Martin, co-founder and designer-in-chief of the Stockholm-based furniture brand.
"BAM! has clear pop art references and a kind of instant look with its clear graphic profile and generous block-like shapes," said Martin. "It looks like something that could come out of a Lichtenstein painting. Hence the name BAM!"
Axel Boman produced a piece of music inspired by BAM!
The sofa was delivered to Axel Boman's studio, and the music producer then recorded a piece of music for it featuring Swedish jazz drummer Konrad Agnas.
"All of a sudden there stood a cool, bright green BAM! sofa in the studio, which was anything but conservative and I let that inspire my process," said Boman. "The music plays with your expectations and is both beautiful and chaotic."
The sofa features embroidered cushions
BAM! has a no armrests and a slanted backrest padded out with three cushions. These are filled with recycled duck and goose feathers taken from old down products that have been cleaned and reused.
The sofa is available in a range of colours including white, purple and yellow. Massproductions offers two, three and four-seater versions of the product, which is delivered flat-packed for home assembly.
