Dezeen Showroom: designed by the founders of Swedish brand Skargaarden for their own home, the Bönan outdoor sofa is made to stay in place year-round.
The Bönan modular sofa system started life as custom seating for Jari and Anna Visuri, who operate their own design studio, Studio Norrlandet, as well as Skargaarden.

They wanted a sofa that could stay by the pool throughout the year, even if it wasn't being used, and complement the architecture of the home, which they describe as looking "like a modern incarnation of a mid-century Case Study House".
They also wanted it to capture the spirit of this section of the Baltic coast, around the village of Bönan. The sofa is made to stay in place outdoors year-round
The duo ended up turning the design, which has a discreet aluminium frame and narrow legs, into a modular system that can be ordered in various configurations to suit hotels as well as homes. It includes elements such as sofa tables, ottomans and a feature corner module.
Bönan's cushions are upholstered in waterproof fabric from the French manufacturer Sunbrella. They are available in light or dark grey.
