This small cottage nestled in the harbour-side suburb of McMahons Point required new living spaces to accommodate the owners’ expanding lifestyle.

The small site and restricted context regulations allowed only a simple form extension to the rear. Drawing inspiration from the old timber workboats docked around the bay, the house was detailed with expressed structure and extruded forms, creating intimate but light spaces. An open plan design allowed the living spaces to transit seamlessly into the outdoors.
