CAMDEN HIGHLINE SMASHES CROWDFUNDING TARGET
£64K RAISED WILL KICK-START THE PROJECT AND HELP SET UP HIGHLINE COMMUNITY ORGANISATION
LONDON ? A crowdfunding campaign for the Camden Highline has raised £64k, almost double its initial target a month after beginning.
The campaign benefitted from a wave of support including the Mayor of London Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan and Camden Market, who joined over 300 residents, community groups and businesses who donated to the campaign. The project, a rival to New York?s iconic High Line, would link the world-famous Camden Market with the recently redeveloped King?s Cross area by transforming an 0.8km disused railway line in Camden into a new public park and garden walk.
The money raised will be used for feasibility work to establish key details, including the condition of the existing infrastructure, the resources required for transforming the disused railway, and timelines to completion.
As well as the feasibility work the crowdfunding campaign will help pay to set up a new community organisation that will deliver the Camden Highline, and events and workshops that will guide the project?s aims and ambiti...
