The Canada Council for the Arts (CCA) recently announced the recipients for the Prix de Rome in Architecture ? Professional; Prix de Rome in Architecture ? Emerging Practitioners, and J.B.C. Watkins Award
CCA contributes to the creative and diverse arts and literary scene and supports its presence across Canada and around the world. The organization also recognizes the potential of emerging architects and the contribution of practicing architects by awarding these three prizes.

The winner of the Prix de Rome in Architecture ? Professional is Modern Office of Design + Architecture. Founded by architects Ben Klumper and Dustin Couzens in 2013, Modern Office of Design + Architecture is a Calgary-based practice in the fields of architecture, urbanism, landscape and design. Modern Office of Design + Architecture’s project, called PAST/forward, explores the disruptive potential of robotics at the scale of architecture, and provides an opportunity for architects to re-enter the world of “making.” It aims to take a “PAST/forward” approach to a time when, as OMA’s Reinier de Graaf put it,  architects ?leveraged the benedictions of science and technology towards the betterment of society.?
