On Saturday March 15, the book Canadian Modern Architecture, 1967 to the present launches at the CCA with an afternoon panel discussion. The discussion takes place at 3 pm in the Shaughnessy House.

Starting from 1967, this comprehensive reference book considers how the practice of architecture in Canada has changed, and how Canadian architects interpreted international trends, regional and indigenous architectural tendencies, with a focus on Toronto, Montreal, and Vancouver.
The conversation at the CCA includes book co-editor Elsa Lam and chapter author David Theodore, whose research for the book focused on Quebec’s architecture since 1967. It will be moderated by the Université de Montréal’s Jean-Pierre Chupin. One topic of discussion will concentrate on Canadian cultures of competitions and commissioning, in an international context. Jean-Pierre Chupin is Professor, and Canada Research Chair in Architecture, Competitions, and Mediations of Excellence at the École d?architecture of the Université de Montréal, where he co-directs the Laboratoire d?étude de l?architecture potentielle (L.E.A.P.). Elsa Lam is co-editor, with Graham Livesey, of the book, and editor of Canadian Architect magazine. David Theodore is Associate Professor, and Canada Research Chair in Architecture, Health, and Computation, at McGill University.
