Phase one of the East Block of the Canadian Parliament in Ottawa, Ont., jointly led by Architecture 49 and DFS Architects with contractor Heather & Little, is among the projects recognized with a North American Copper in Architecture (NACIA) award in the restoration category by the Copper Development Association (CDA).
Now in its 17th edition, the awards program showcases a range of projects that highlight craftsmanship, attention to detail, and architectural vision. Since its launch in 2008, the program has awarded projects across three categories: new construction, restoration and ornamental applications. CDA also recognized four other winners in the restoration category which include the courtyard of the New York State Capitol in Albany, N.Y., by Bell & Spina Architects-Planners PC and sheet-metal installer Greenwood Industries, the transformation of Michigan Central Station in Detroit, Mich., led by Quinn Evans, a technically difficult rework of the dome of the Logan County Courthouse in Lincoln, Ill and the restoration of the Green County Courthouse in Monroe, Wisc., by Renaissance Roofing.
