Idyllically set among Victoria’s coastal bushland on the Mornington Peninsula, this was a replacement building for a fiberglass shack that has grown into a permanent residence and a holiday house for extended family.
What was the brief"
This is a home for a retiring couple to replace holiday shack that had been in the family for years. Also to be intended as accommodation for extended family, while maintaining privacy for the client.
What were the key challenges"
A)Maintaining as much of the the existing vegetation as possible. Working in close proximity to extensive tee trees.
B)The second challenge was the busy main road – which bright noise pollution and privacy issues!
What were the solutions"
A)We did extensive work trying to understand the positioning of the trees – they just showed up as a little dot on the plans, but the tee trees spread extensively meaning they covered a significant footprint. We met with the builder on site when setting it out at the start.
