The Canadian Council of University Schools of Architecture (CCUSA), in collaboration with the Azrieli School of Architecture & Urbanism, Carleton University and the Faculty of Architecture at the University of Manitoba, are hosting a symposium on Sept. 29 to Oct. 2 as part of the Canadian Architecture Forums on Education (CAFÉ) series.
The online and in-person event involves student and faculty delegates from all university schools of architecture across Canada. The event includes student and faculty speakers and panelists; guest presenters from the Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture (ACSA) and Dark Matter University; and opening and closing sessions centering Indigenous knowledge and reconciliation.
The workshops consist of ?Moving beyond rhetoric? by Indigenous Relations Consultant Michael Etherington (Oct. 2), and presentation on ?Freshwater fish futures, Indigenous sovereignty, and environmental kin studies – thinking with space + relationships? (Sept. 29) by Zoe Todd (Red River Métis), professor of sociology and co-founder of the Indigenous Environmental Knowledge Institute (IEKI) at Carleton, in dialogue with Monique Manatch (Algonquins of Barriere Lake), a Knowledge Keeper and PhD student in Anthropology focusing on the impact and creation of digital arts in Indigenous communities.
