In the era of concrete mass and boxed structures, this gripping residence sits amidst a completely occupied posh colony of farms in the heart of New Delhi.Designed for a modern Indian multi-generation family, that is rooted in traditional values, the residence is intended to cater to the lifestyle of the different people inhabiting the house, while catering to their public and private needs, connecting with the surrounding natural ambience all through.
Spread over 2.5 acres of land, this modern residence is designed on the principles Japanese zen module modelling linear lines. Exemplifying a strategic use of voids over mass, the spaces that have been developed reserve a visual axis of their own. The entrance is marked by an amalgam of materials celebrating nature and the man-made in their elemental state. Earthy wooden shades stain the scenery of a stately entrance encompassing a water body and a solitary tree that add accents to an otherwise muted color palette.The design also brings together several artworks and sculptures, designed by artist GayatriSekhri, who is also the owner of the residence.
