Competition: win a copy of Bauhaus by Hans M Wingler
As part of our Bauhaus 100 series celebrating the school's centenary, the latest Dezeen competition offers readers the chance to win one of five hardcover copies of Bauhaus by Hans M Wingler.
One of our 10 books that tell you everything you need to know about the hugely influential design school, Bauhaus: Weimar, Dessau, Berlin, Chicago was originally published in 1978 and is regarded as one of the most comprehensive collections to have been published on the school.
Five readers will each win a copy of the book in a boxed hardcover edition
The book's author, Hans Wingler, was a German art historian and founder of the Bauhaus Archiv.
To create the book he drew on extensive materials including public manifestos, private letters, internal memoranda, newspaper and magazine articles, Nazi polemics, and budgets and curricula. Public manifestos, private letters, and newspaper and magazine articles helped form the book
"The illustrations include architectural plans and realisations, craft and industrial model designs, sculpture, paintings, drawings, etchings, woodcuts, posters, programs, advertising brochures, stage settings, and formal portraits of such Bauhaus masters as Walter Gropius and Lyonel Feininger," says the book's publisher, MIT Press.
