Concrete Home With Interior Courtyard – G House by Esaú Acosta
Simple designs might be easy to pursue in our dreams but in practice, simplicity and purity are items hard to achieve; simplicity is considered in certain cases a state of perfection. The design that follows has been materialized in a site with great potential, an expanding area in Tenerife defined by diversity thanks to homes of different sizes and ages. Envisioned by Esaú Acosta the G House aimed to offer vast amounts of space to the inhabitant.
The home gravitates around two seasonal courtyards one being used for cooking and dinning throughout winter while the other can be used as a terrace during summer. The raw language that wraps the home creates a dialogue with the incipient urban tissue in the making and thus in time the patina of time will emphasize the existence of the home. In the interior design the architect beautifully manipulated perception through stacked volumes that evolve in width and length from one room to another, surprising the one that sails through. Local materials have been used in the making and where thermal inertia could have been a problem wood has been used to add coziness and warmth.
