Congrats, Class of 2020!
it’s a tradition in architecture schools everywhere: at the end of the year, studios, hallways, and exhibition rooms are festooned with students’ best work. This year, those shows have moved online.
Likewise, graduation ceremonies have gone virtual, and winners of student awards are being announced and celebrated virtually.
Here’s a round-up of the best work and student awards from Canada’s architecture schools.
University of Calgary’s School of Architecture, Planning and Landscape has moved its year-end show online, compiling work from across studios over the year. The school has also put together an online grad show that highlights graduating students alongside their best work. A rolling Instagram show features selected student work.
Ryerson University’s Department of Architectural Science is showcasing its best student work in its first online exhibition. The exhibition includes work from all four levels of study and from the graduate level.
Undaunted by the cancellation of its physical year-end show, some 300 students from the Université de Montréal’s Faculté de l’aménagement contributed to a web exhibition highlighting the best work of the year.
In mid-June, the design school at Université Laval hosted a live all-school exhibition, including student projects, guest speakers, and a presentation of student awards. A video of the event can be viewed on a dedicated Facebook page.
