Dark Shapes is a contemporary penthouse apartment located in Bucharest, Romania, designed in 2021 by Ralu Dofin.
Description
This penthouse apartment project started with a complete functional makeover, generating a clear division between the day and night area and optimizing the functionality of both areas. The living area becomes a continuum in which communication between functions is smooth.
The abundant natural light entering the apartment gave us the opportunity to integrate chromatic palettes of shades of gray to black, clean lines, industrial accents, and elegant minimalism.
The linear rigidity of the fixed volumes represented by walls, ceilings, and custom furniture is visually complemented by the rounded shapes of the dining table, chairs, lighting fixtures, coffee tables, and mirrors. The oversized round mirror above the access staircase reflects all the scenarios that unfold around it, representing a focal point for introducing dynamism.
The suspended light above the dining table is a sculptural piece that comes as a visual surprise in terms of its shape and size.
The kitchen has an opening to a generous terrace and the island near it, serving as a breakfast place but also as a bar next to the dining area.
The insertion of nature in the urban living space is a common intention found in our projects. This time, the green makes its presence felt in the oversized pot in the area next to the suspended armchair, inviting you to relax.
