Concept visualisation unveiled for a St Kilda visitor centre, situated remotely on the Isle of Lewis

Ionad Hiort is located on a clifftop site that faces west to St Kilda, around 50 miles out into the North Atlantic Ocean.
Architect Ruaraidh Flyn said: “It is an inspiring project and site. Our proposals are site specific and influenced by the extreme climatic and locational conditions. The new centre has to be a world-class project and will provide a focal point for the regeneration of an existing island community, capturing and interpreting the story of St Kilda, whilst providing an experience of Hebridean culture and landscape.” If delivered the centre would become the first UK project for Norwegian architects Reiulf Ramstad. e-architect met with Reiulf Ramstad when he gave a talk for Peter Wilson at The Hub in Edinburgh a few years ago.
The architects were appointed to the project in March 2016 following an architectural competition.
