Energy Star certification introduced for Canada’s residential high-rises
A new program has just hit the Canadian housing market. Now, mid- and high-rise builders have the opportunity to certify their buildings with a trusted brand, commonly known for products, equipment and new homes. EnerQuality, under license from Natural Resources Canada, will be working with leading builders in the new Energy Star Multifamily High-Rise (New Construction) Pilot Program. These industry leaders will help consumers save money and lower their carbon footprint.

?We are proud to work with EnerQuality to deliver the Energy Star Multifamily High-Rise Pilot Program in Ontario,? says the Honourable Amarjeet Sohi, Canada?s Minister of Natural Resources. ?This program will not only reduce pollution and consumers? energy bills, but it will also create construction, consulting and design jobs and stimulate innovation in the housing sector.? Since 2005, EnerQuality ? working with the building industry and NRCan ? has certified more than 88,000 Energy Star homes. These homes are on average 20% more energy efficient than typical code-built homes. ?Energy Star is a system for leading builders to build a better home and to show Canadians that market-based programs can achieve important goals like addressing climate change,? says Corey McBurney, President of EnerQuality.
