With 10 days to go until Dezeen Awards 2019 entries close, our judges have set out what they will be looking for when choosing winners. Here are their tips on how to make sure that your entry will impress.

"If you think it is your duty to put your talent to good use, in favour of the community. If you dream of being reputed, of knowing, of searching, of sharing, of building or deconstructing tomorrow. Then there is only one key: Dezeen Awards."

Kelly Hoppen
"I will be looking for individuals or companies who are doing things differently ? design that is not only beautiful, but also clever and breaks the mould. "Sustainability is also hugely important in design, and looking at ways that we can reduce environmental impact through design is a key factor for me."

Winy Maas, co-founder of MVRDV
"I hope that these awards lead to projects and products that might help to change the world, and to turn it in a good direction. I am fascinated by people who are able to think in that manner and that can make houses, cities or products that stress that."

Sonali Rastogi, founding partner of Morphogenesis 
"This year, the focus should be on practices that exemplify passive design, resource optimisation and contextual identity.
