For the Greater Good: Heather Dubbeldam
This lecture series was created with the intention of increasing the awareness of architecture and of our built environment in Newfoundland and Labrador as well as setting the stage for a designed based dialogue about the cities, towns and outport communities across the province.
This year, we have chosen a theme of ?For the Greater Good?. With this theme, we?re hoping to create a framework for the lectures by asking: what projects have you done where you incorporated design concepts for the human experience, above and beyond the required program or basic functionality. How do you push good quality design in the face of restrictive budgets and timelines" How can good design operate for the greater good of a society or place" This is a universal struggle for designers and we?re hoping that lecturers will speak about projects from this perspective.Â
