Glass-bottomed Sky Pool suspends swimmers 500 feet above Houston
A transparent portion of a swimming pool atop a high-rise development in Houston, Texas, projects outward so brave residents can view both the skyline in front and the ground 40 storeys below.
The Market Square Tower is the latest residential complex to boast a glass-bottomed pool, following proposals for London and India.

A section of the rooftop swimming pool, with see-through sides and bottom, cantilevers 10 feet (three metres) from the edge of the 502-foot (153-metre) building.

Constructed from acrylic glass that measures eight inches (20 centimetres) thick, the base curves up to form the front partition for uninterrupted views.
Market Square Tower includes 463 rental apartments ranging from studios to three-beds.
It was designed by local firm Jackson & Ryan Architects, and completed in November 2016. Since then, residents have shared images and videos of their vertigo-enducing experiences in the pool on Instagram.
Other glass-bottomed pools can be found at a hotel in the South Tyrolean Dolomites, and a villa in Marbella.
