Government of Canada launches the Housing Supply Challenge
The Government of Canada has initiated the first round of the Housing Supply Challenge. The Challenge invites applications from across the country to propose new ideas and solutions that break down the barriers that limit new housing supply.
For this data-driven round, applicants must submit technology solutions or methodologies that improve the collection, sharing, analysis, and integration, and/or presentation of data in regards to housing supply.
Proposals that address barriers to supply, and ultimately help more people find an affordable home, will receive funding to develop and implement their solutions.
Led by the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC), the Challenge is part of Impact Canada in collaboration with the Impact and Innovation Unit in the Privy Council Office and Infrastructure Canada. The Challenge will distribute $300 million in funding over five years through various rounds. Successful submissions will first receive funding to prototype or incubate their proposal, and then finalists will receive additional funding to implement it.
Initial submissions must be submitted by January 20, 2021. For more information:Â https://www.cmhc-schl.gc.ca/en/nhs/housing-supply-challenge.
