PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Service Center
INSPIRATION:
The building form was inspired by nature and by the environment. The architects try to make a building merged into nature. It tries to maximise views of the mountains and the lake, getting people close to the water and nature.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
The International Horticultural Exposition 2014 opened in Qingdao, as the primary architecture of the Expo area. The building undertook multiple functions including circulation hub, activity center, restaurant, recreational landscape, cultural communication, etc. it merged into its surrounding landscape. A three-armed junction system was used to generate the architecture and landscape, the multiple routes system provide maximum visitor experience and accessibility.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION:
People enjoy the nature while eating in the restaurants, also touch the nature while walking in the outside landscape area like roof terraces, water front decks and etc.
