In the heart of the Wimmera wheat belt in Victoria lies the small country town of Horsham. The area near the town was recently featured in the film “The Dry” starring Eric Bana. In recent years there has been a push to activate the Horsham Riverfront and make it more of a destination in Horsham.

Late last year Chris Elliott Architects won the commission to design a number of structures along the riverfront to help with its revitalization.
Horsham Riverfront Upgrade
This year Chris Elliott Architects have been working closely with Horsham Rural City Council to realize their aim of enhancing the riverfront. The practice have designed eight structures in all based on a master plan prepared by Tract Landscape and Urban Design consultants. Shown here are some of our design renderings of the project, the first phase of which is now under construction.

The approach is from the central part of the city along the town’s main street heading south towards the river. The entry is celebrated and enhanced by a monumental timber pergola that leads to the main gathering place.
