Canadian design firm Lemay served as lead architect while its sister firm Lemay + Escobar crafted the luxury hotel interiors. In addition to the hotel, the project includes rental units, restaurants, boutiques and public spaces in an H-shaped design. The multifunctional plaza is an extension of Place Jean-Paul Riopelle that faces the project.
The vertical community provides residents and visitors with both urban amenities and connection to nature. The design reduces the need for artificial light and promotes access to daylight and views. The project?s color scheme was informed by natural spaces. The design objective was to create a presence in the city skyline while creating a sense of community in a hyper-dense area. ?We are in the Quartier International, a few steps from the Palais des Congre?s, the iconic convention center, and on the threshold of the historic city centre, noted Andres Escobar, Design Principal at Lemay + Escobar. ?It is an iconic, youthful, and vibrant scene, and therefore we wanted the focus to be fun, joyous, and be very much contemporary. We drafted the space with clean lines and curated it with eclectic art and furniture.”
