Humanscale?s QuickStand Lite wins Red Dot Best of the Best Award for Innovation in Product Design
I’ve been using a QuickStand Lite stand, a new sit/stand solution, on a trial basis from Humanscale over the past month. It’s the culmination of a series of experiments in active desk setups, and easily one of the most satisfying.
For my workstation, I’ve been using the QuickStand Lite at three heights: seating, standing, and slightly higher than standing for pairing with a Lifecycle Bike Desk. More on this in a later editorial, but for the time being, I’d like to report that it’s been an enjoyable experience. The QuickStand is easy and intuitive to use because of its counterbalance mechanism. Channels to hide cables also add to its elegant aesthetic. It’s a definite upgrade from the Ikea-hacked standing desk that I have in my home office, and has garnered interest from design and non-design colleagues alike. I was thus glad to learn that QuickStand Lite was announced as a winner of the Red Dot ?Best of the Best? Award for top quality and design in the Product category.
This year, the competition received a record 5,214 entries from 57 nations, which were assessed by a jury of 41 specialists, including designers, design professors, and journalists. Winning entries stood out for their functionality, degree of innovation, formal quality, ecological compatibility and other criteria.
