Dezeen Showroom: designed to make dining feel like a true occasion, the timber Issho table by Australian brand King features a sculptural base that can be placed into different configurations.
Designed by King's in-house team, the Issho table combines a natural timber top with a number of sculptural plinths, which the brand describes as "fins".
The Issho tabletop sits on sculptural "fins" that can be easily reconfigured
Their positioning can be arranged according to the mood, allowing users to subtly change the table's character and sense of volume.
The fins are finished in timber veneer to match the tabletop. But underneath, they are made of structural foam moulded around a steel spine so they are lightweight enough to easily move around. The Issho table is named after the Japanese word for "together", in reference to both the structure and the social function of the piece.
It has a natural timber tabletop in either a circular or rectangular shape
It comes in several sizes, starting from a table with three fins that can seat six to eight people and going up to a six-fin version for ten.
Both circular and rectangular tabletops are available and, in a first for King, there is also the option to have a built-in Lazy Susan. The accessory sits flush with the tabletop and has a concealed self-cleaning channel.
