Amazon billionaire Jeff Bezos has revealed plans for a lunar lander, claiming that humans will become a space-faring species in the near future.
Bezos, who funds the Blue Origin space programme, presented the Blue Moon lander at an event in Washington DC earlier this month.
His suggestion is that future human beings will live on a series of manufactured worlds in space, rotated to create artificial gravity, each holding more than a million people.
"Earth will be a beautiful place to live, a beautiful place to visit, a beautiful place to go to college," said Bezos. "It will also be really easy to go between, to visit friends, to visit family, to visit one that's a recreation area. It's a day trip."

"People are going to want to live here, and they can be close to earth, so that you can return," Bezos told the invited audience. "Which is important as people are going to want to return to earth. They're not going to want to leave earth forever."
