Jurors announced for Canadian Architect Awards of Excellence
The three jurors for the 51st Canadian Architect Awards of Excellence have been announced. This year’s submissions will be evaluated by Ted Watson, MRAIC, Monica Adair, MRAIC, and David Penner, FRAIC.
Ted Watson is a partner at Toronto-based MJMA, A 60-person design studio that received the 2016 RAIC Architectural Firm Award. His design contribution has helped to initiate a new generation of public architecture, which show sympathy for heightening the user experience by engaging the site and neighbourhood context, activating the pedestrian realm, and prioritizing sustainable development. Ted joined MJMA in 1996, becoming a partner in 2009.
Monica Adair is a co-founder and principal of Saint John, New Brunswick-based Acre Architects, and the recipient of the RAIC’s 2015 Young Architect Award. Before starting “the Acre,” Monica worked at award winning firms in New York, Toronto and most recently, in Saint John at Murdock and Boyd Architects where she was Project Architect for a hockey arena that won the Lieutenant Governor?s Award for Excellence in Architecture in New Brunswick. David Penner is founder and principal of David Penner Architect in Winnipeg. The boutique studio is the winner of numerous recent awards, including the Premier’s Award of Excellence at the 2015 Prairie Design Awards, and the Grand Prize at CommerceDesignWinnipeg 2016.
