Kaldewei's digital tools help architects plan bathrooms efficiently
Dezeen promotion: German bathroom brand Kaldewei is using building information modelling data to provide industry clients and private customers with digital models of its products.
Building information modelling (BIM) is used to create a digital representation of the physical and functional characteristics of a space. It is particularly useful in architecture, engineering and construction to give professionals insights to plan, design and manage projects efficiently.
Recognising that BIM will be used in all future planning for construction, Kaldewei is one of the first bathroom and sanitary brands to adopt the use of this technology.
At the core of the use of effective BIM are 3D models that contain all of the relevant project and product-specific data. This data is used across the industries, by architects, engineers and project managers, and can be used to help provide information on costs and deadlines. Across the UK, Norway, the Netherlands and the US, BIM is already widely used, and is often pre-requisite for public tenders. Germany, Austria and Switzerland are also increasing the use of BIM data.
Not only does the data improve the work flow, it also helps provide relevant information on a buildings sustainability throughout it's lifespan.
Kaldewei actively promotes this technology to emphasise the brand's close partnership with planners and architects. The BIM data for its products are available for download from the Kaldewei website.
