Kicking Horse Residence – Ski Lodge in British Columbia

Bohlin Cywinski Jackson designed a spectacular ski-in / ski-out lodge entitled Kicking Horse Residence that resides British Columbia, it includes ladders leading up and lofted sleeping areas with maple bunk beds.
Two volumes conjure a home that nestles the sleeping area above the main garage, below a slanted ceiling. A striking dynamic look has been obtained with a cantilevered roof in black-stained cedar creating contrast.
The second volume shelters the main kitchen along an open dining and living room; cozy fireplace for chilly days included. The space enjoys expansive views towards the mountain peaks, an adjacent ski trail lures the inhabitants outdoors to enjoy the slopes, the snow. Douglas fir and cedar planks have been used to bring the rustic, ski chalet charm to a modern construction that enjoys an extraordinary site with easy access to nearby ski resort.
