Living Unit – A Modular Home Designed For Different Terrains By OFIS Arhitekti
The Slovenian architecture studio OFIS Arhitekti have designed a modular home called the Living Unit that is suited for different terrains and climates. It is a rather small dwelling boasting 322 square feet of space but it doesn’t cut back on anything essential. It offers just enough accommodation with its kitchen, bathroom and bedroom.
But the best part about this tiny home is that it can grow. It can be extended both horizontally and vertically by joining new modules that can be customized in any way you want since the structure is made of timber frames reinforced by plywood on either side.
The interior can also be customized. It is flexible enough to be changed from the standard package. The one that we’ve featured is currently serving as a temporary library in Ljubljana, Slovenia where each floor of this modular structure houses books of various topics. This might just be every bookworm’s dream because it allows you to read your favorite books against a breathtaking background – an undisturbed view of Ljubljana. Alternatively, you can enjoy your book under the chestnut trees that surround this Living Unit.
The research for the Cabin was initiated by OFIS, C+C, C28 and AKT along with contractor Permiz to develop Self-contained wooden shell, which can be flexible and adaptable on different locations, climate conditions and terrains.
