?An ocean liner ready to set sail for the mountains?, this is how the daughter of Thomas Mann, winner of the Noble Prize for Literature, called it. This villa, in the exclusive ?Roma Imperiale? neighbourhood in Forte dei Marmi, in Tuscany, looking straight into the ?eyes? of the Apuan Alps, was commissioned by the fifth of Thomas Mann’s six children, Elisabeth, who had stayed in town with her father several times during the Twenties, and was built between 1957 and 1959.
It was designed by architect Leonardo Ricci ? student and assistant of Giovanni Michelucci; this 350 m2 building’s style can be attributed to the 1950’s Rationalism architectural current and features reinforced concrete, glass and rough Carrara marble: Luxury villa in Forte dei Marmi.
