Margolese Prize Winner to Present Work and Lead Panel Discussion
The 2021 recipient of the Margolese National Design for Living Prize, will be honoured in an official presentation in Vancouver on October 22. Nina-Marie Lister will present her work and participate in a panel discussion with Jill Anholt, Julia Czerniak, Kees Lokman, and Mary Rowe.
The presentation ceremony and panel discussion will take place at the Vogue Theatre in Vancouver. Register for in-person seating here or, to receive a link for live-streaming, contact [email protected].
Lister was selected from over 50 nominations as a remarkable inspiration to the next generation of design practitioners. In collaboration with others in diversity fields, her work addresses and encourages the coexistence of wildlife and people in healthy, interconnected landscapes. From devising structures that facilitate safe passage for wildlife and humans over busy highways, to advocating for natural gardens and native plants in our cities, she finds strategies and solutions that connect urbanites to nature. Established through an estate gift to UBC by the late Leonard Herbert Margolese, the annual prize recognizes an inspirational Canadian citizen who engages in design aimed at improving the built environment. The prize was relaunched in 2021 to emphasize that in addition to aesthetics, design needs to enhance social, cultural, and ecological well-being.
