Midtown Workplace in Brisbane?s CBD delivers a sustainable and adaptable model that accommodates new ways of working for an increasingly distributed workforce.
Spanning 9 levels, the workplace is within an adaptive reuse development that merges two ex-government buildings into a single A-Grade tower. The use of recycled materials from the original building has reduced carbon dioxide emissions by 11,000 tonnes ? equivalent to running the building carbon-neutral for four years. The brief ? create a nimble workplace that will adapt to the evolution and progression of our client?s business, their story, and their connection with their community.
Armed with the principles of connection and evolution, we transformed these values into two tangible design features. The first ? a central atrium fringed with planting and drenched in daylight, anchored by an auditorium at its base. The second ? a central high-street providing an activated thoroughfare that promotes serendipitous exchange and curates? moments of discovery and innovation. ?
