By blending the district’s historical building style with architectural finesse, the new station improves Montreal West’s intermodal transportation experience.

Strategically located to maximize community impact while minimizing environmental effects, the project includes measures to preserve the existing woodland, trees, and biodiversity.

Inspired by the neighborhood’s building style, the design team chose a double-sloped roof to ensure context-sensitive siting, echoing local landmarks like the old railway station and St. Philip’s Church. Modernized and simplified, the roof evokes familiarity with its elegant form. It is designed to maximize natural light, giving the building a timeless appeal. The roof is delicately placed on a glass box of simple form but notable volume. © David Boyer
With its straightforward design, the building is easy to spot and acts as a beacon on Sherbrooke Street West. During the day, the glass box reflects the surrounding nature, while at night, integrated lighting creates a glow that guides passersby.
