Extension Mozarteum
The architectural office BERGER + PARKKINEN has been commissioned with the Extension Mozarteum design and planning of the new institute building of the Mozarteum University at the Kurgarten in Salzburg.

The building, now renamed UMAK (University Mozarteum am Kurgarten), is located in the immediate vicinity of the Paracelsus Bad & Kurhaus, which was also planned by BERGER + PARKKINEN and opened in 2019. Thanks to their clear, identity-creating architectural language, the two houses will form a focal point in the historic core of the city of Salzburg. The student use in conjunction with the visitor flows of the Bath and Kurhaus will bring about a sustainable revival of the northwestern area in the spa garden. In their design, the architects pay particular attention to the morphology of the spa garden with the former fortification and to the accentuation of the open spaces. The main idea of the design is to make the transition from the baroque complex of Schloss Mirabell to the Wilhelminian Markus-Sittikus-Straße tangible.
