Muller Van Severen furnishes The Apartment in Antwerp with its entire collection
Belgian studio Muller Van Severen is presenting its collection of furniture and lighting for design brand Valerie Objects inside a luxury apartment in the heart of Antwerp (+ slideshow).
The collection ? which includes soft leather seats hanging between steel frames and colourful plastic shelves ? is currently on show at The Apartment, a space that is part of the Graanmarkt 13 concept store by designers Ilse Cornelissens, Tim Van Geloven and Vincent Van Duysen.
Normally, The Apartment functions as private accommodation across the top two floors of Graanmarkt 13, but it has opened its doors to the public for the first time to showcase Muller van Severen's pieces for Belgian brand Valerie Objects.
The Future Primitives collection on show includes seating and lighting made from a steel tubing system, with the structure left exposed. It also features shelves based on the polyethylene plastic plates used in the catering industry for food hygiene purposes.
"All the colours are made for one food, for example yellow is for poultry, blue is for fish, green is for vegetables," said Muller.
"We used all the colours you can have of that material, but it's again the combination of the colours that makes it special," she added.
When the exhibition closes on 28 May, each of the pieces will be available to purchase from the ground floor of the Graanmarkt 13 store.
Muller Van Severen was founded in 2011 by photographer Fien Muller and sculptor Hannes Va...
