Nest We Grow Timber Structure In The Island of Hokkaido by KK
?Nest We Grow? is a splendid food hub recently built on the island of Hokkaido by the Japanese Architecture Practice Kengo Kuma and a select team of students from UC Berkeley?s College of Environmental Design . The solution makes use of a timber frame structure that summons the vertical spatial experience of a Japanese larch forest.
To emphasize the functionality of the hub as a whole plenty of beams have been added to hang fish and vegetables. In the central platform a beautiful sunken fireplace was born, becoming the fire heart of the ensemble. The installation has been realized to generate social cohesion in the present community by offering new food storage and preparation options to locals.
