OAA Announces Queen’s Park Picks
The Ontario Association of Architects (OAA) announced its annual Queen’s Park Picks as part of its virtual celebration of World Architecture Day. The OAA invited Ontario MPPs to reflect on the province?s architectural legacy and nominate a favourite building within their riding. From their submissions, nine projects have been selected for this year?s online exhibit.
An emerging theme this year was adaptive reuse of existing buildings, an important strategy for achieving climate stability. Adaptive reuse from demolition and construction. Creatively repurposing existing structures minimizes landfill waste and reduces greenhouse gas emissions from new builds, while preserving Ontario?s built and cultural heritage.
The chosen buildings chosen are as follows: Artscape Wychwood Barns in Toronto, by nominated by MPP Jill Andrew, renovated by DTAH Architects Ltd.
