The Ordre des architectes du Québec (OAQ) has unveiled the 14 winners of this year?s awards of excellence and distinctions.
The 2022 Grand Prix d?excellence was awarded to the firm Daoust Lestage for Expérience chute, the redesigned pavilion and walkway at the foot of Montmorency Falls near Québec City. The Prix du public (People?s Choice award) went to the final phase of the CHUM hospital complex project, comprising the Amphithéâtre Pierre-Péladeau, which also won the award in the Public Institutional Building category.
Four individual distinctions were also handed out, recognizing exceptional commitment to inclusive, quality architecture in Québec. The Médaille du Mérite, the OAQ?s highest distinction, was presented to architect and urbanist Renée Daoust. L??UF received the Engagement social prize, the Relève en architecture prize (for emerging architects) was awarded to architect Jérôme Lapierre, and rhe Ambassadeur de la qualité en architecture prize (awarded to a non-architect who champions architectural quality) went to Sophie Lanctôt.
