This March, Omar Gandhi Architects unveiled ELECTRIC, a Toronto installation that launched two new lights inspired by the urban environment and material language of the firm’s built work.
ELECTRIC, which was crafted with Donohoe Living Landscapes, featured an interlacing brick wall with deliberately arranged OG Brick Lights that cast a nocturnal glow. The lights were designed by OG x aaline and manufactured by aaline in Toronto.

Suspended above, OG 18 ga. pendants illuminated FILO TIMO’s bronze tables, which created waves of light. Materials such as lichen and rock were woven into the space to form miniature ecosystems, sculpting the urban landscape into a living entity. In the heart of one of Toronto?s oldest districts, ELECTRIC aims to be a testament to, as the firm puts it, “enduring innovation, blending tradition with modernity, and turning the mundane into the extraordinary.”

The Brick light was born from the desire to integrate light into the fabric of a masonry wall. Originally conceived for Omar Gandhi’s own home, the OG Brick light comes with dimmable options, and with a bronze finish that blends into a textured buff brick wall laid in a traditional common bond pattern.
?The OG Brick Light both at once disappears and gives life to a traditional masonry wall,” said Gandhi.
