Orizon mirror by Ocrum Studios
Dezeen Showroom: New York design practice Ocrum Studios has released a mirror that is both a functional and a decorative item and resembles "a window with a view that you can hang from your walls".
The circular Orizon mirror is split in two ? with the top half made of tinted glass and the bottom half finished in a layer of undulating, hand-glazed ceramic ? to create the impression of looking out to sea at the distant horizon.
The Orizon mirror comes in moonlight blue, top image, and vivid blue, above
"Orizon is a window with a view that you can hang from your wall, its ocean-like surface blending neatly into a lush and brightly-coloured sky,"Â Ocrum Studios explained.
"The combination of vitrified ceramic and coloured mirror strikes a contemporary look without sacrificing the human touch of traditional craftsmanship." The result is a piece of wall art that seamlessly integrates its practical, reflective quality into its artistic expression.
The design evokes a sense of looking out to sea
Orizon is available in three colours to suggest different times of day, from vivid, clear blue skies to the muted hues of moonlight and a bright coral pink that evokes a tropical sunset.
