Pierre-Louis Gerlier Architecte gives Paris studio apartment hotel-like aesthetic
French architecture studio Pierre-Louis Gerlier Architecte has renovated a studio apartment in Paris, adding a curved wall with scalloped wood panelling.
Located in Saint Germain des Pres district of Paris, the previously dark and dated 30-square-metre apartment was updated to create a simple hotel-like aesthetic.

"Our customers who live mainly in the countryside wanted a cocoon during their stay in Paris," Pierre-Louis Gerlier Architecte founder Pierre-Louis Gerlier told Dezeen.
"They bought a small apartment ideally located in the famous district of Saint Germain des Près, but it was quite old and very dark. Their main wish was to feel like in a hotel with a simple and pure decoration." The curved wall has fluted wood panels
Pierre-Louis Gerlier Architecte completely redesigned the small courtyard-facing studio apartment using Shigeru Ban's Paper House as inspiration while looking to maintain its original charm.
The studio removed all partition walls, the uneven wooden floor and false ceiling to increase the height of the space and reveal its beams.
Waxed concrete was used on the floors to relfect light
