Mabel O. Wilson presents the ongoing advocacy project Who Builds Your Architecture" (WBYA"), which asks architects and allied fields to better understand how the production of buildings connects their practices to migrant construction workers who build their designs. WBYA", a group of designers, scholars, and activists based in New York City, has extensively researched the networks, modes representations, and processes of the global construction industry. WBYA" has held public panels and workshops that delve into networks linking construction workers and architects. Through exhibitions and publications, WBYA" seeks to inform the design disciplines and professions of the importance of developing an ethical response to critical matters of human sustainability. Wilson is a founding member of Who Builds Your Architecture" And teaches architectural design and history/theory courses as an Associate Professor at Columbia University?s GSAPP. Her multidisciplinary practice Studio & has been a competition finalist for several important cultural institutions including lower Manhattan?s African Burial Ground Memorial and the Smithsonian?s National Museum for African American History and Culture (with Diller Scofidio + Renfro.) She is the author of Negro Building: Black Americans in the World of Fairs and Museums (University of California Press, 2012.)
