Sydney convention and exhibition precinct redevelopment
Joint venture partners HASSELL + Populous are delivering the architectural design for Sydney’s new integrated convention, exhibition and entertainment precinct at Darling Harbour as design consultants to the Darling Harbour Live consortium (comprising Lend Lease, Capella Capital, AEG Ogden and Spotless). The consortium has been selected by the New South Wales Government as the preferred developer of the A$1 billion facility.
HASSELL will also design the extensive public realm, pedestrian parkland and plaza environs around these new facilities.
The project involves the transformation of this key Sydney precinct through the design of three major public buildings and the unifying public realm, including:
_A convention facility with capacity for three concurrent events of up to 2,500 delegates
_Exhibition space of 40,000 sqm
_A 5,000 sqm external event deck with spectacular city views
_A plenary hall which can be converted to an entertainment theatre seating 8,000
