Tatiana Bilbao designs Growing With You furniture collection
Growing With You is a range of furniture pieces by Mexican architect Tatiana Bilbao that are designed to adapt to the size of space they're in.
The Tatiana Bilbao Estudio founder has created five designs that are made for use in homes of all sizes, from tiny apartments to big family residences.
The pieces are highly versatile, able to be organised separately or grouped together in numerous different configurations.
It was this that led Bilbao to come up with the name Growing With You. It suggests that these pieces could follow you through the various homes you inhabit in your lifetime.
The project was commissioned by AGO Projects, a creative hub based between Mexico City and New York. It is debuting in an exhibition at Copenhagen gallery Etage Projects. "Growing with You is a collection of functional, sculptural objects based on the studio's core philosophy of 'humanising' the constructed environment," said the gallery, which is led by curator Maria Foerlev.
"'Growing with You' most elegantly captures the dynamic intersection between the minimalism of the industrial form and the poetic, organic capacities of traditional Mexican craft and materials."
The shapes of all five pieces are derived from the simple volume of a cylinder. Each one is predominantly made from one of three materials:Â volcanic stone, oak wood or copper.
